SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Today I felt like I should write something on spiritual gifts drawn from the words of apostle Paul in  his letter to the Corinth

1 Corinthians 12:1-11
12 Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He determines (NIV)

There is no single person who comes to this world without a natural gift but not so with spiritual gifts. spiritual gifts can only be acquired after a child of God has accepted Jesus as the Savior.Following is how I have been able to bring out what I felt was important.
Origin and nature of spiritual gifts (vs1-6) Ephesians 4:7
  • Given by God through Jesus and executed through the power of the Holy Spirit vs 7
  • Not associated with Idol worship vs1-3
  • There are variety of gifts in work and service vs4 & 5

The purpose of spiritual gifts
  •  Gifts are given for the common good vs7 & Ephesians 4:12
  •  to equip the saints for the work of service. Ephesians4:12

Conclusion
Our gifts as the children of God should be used to glorify God and form reciprocal compliments to one another. We are all gifted for the sake of others. we are to exercise our gifts with humility because after all we are given in order to serve others

IMELA PAPA

In my walk with Jesus sometimes all I do is just to listen to beautiful worship songs that uplifts me. Here is such a song by Nathaniel Bassey and Enitan Adaba

Imela (Thank you)

Verse 1:
When I think upon your goodness;
And Your faithfulness each day
I’m convinced it’s not because I am worthy -
to receive the kind of love that You give.
But I’m grateful for your mercy,
and I’m grateful for your grace
And because of how You’ve poured out Yourself,...
I have come to sing this song out in praise Chorus

Imela, Imela (Thank You! Thank You!)
Okaka, Onyekeruwa (Great and Might creator of the world)
Imela, Imela, (Thank You! Thank You!)
Eze m Oh (My King)

Verse 2:
Who am I to sing Your praises?
Who am I to worship You?
It’s Your blood that makes the difference in me
And made a way to enter into Your throne
I could not come near Your presence
I could never sing Your song
But the sacrifice on Calvary’s tree
is the reason I can cry out today

(Chorus)
Onyedikagi? Ekene diri gi(Who is like You? All Glory belongs to You)
Onyene mema (He who does good)
Onyedikagi? Ekene diri gi (Who is like You? All Glory belongs to You)
Onye nagworia (Mighty Healer)
(Repeat)
